I just had to show this to you because this has to be some of the dumbest worst shit I’ve ever seen from a so called southern rap artist. I can’t really hate on Joc for making money and taking advantage of what they let him get. But this video, I mean this video, you’ve really just got to watch it and tell me what the fuck was he thinking when he did this dumb shit. Does he really believe he’s sharing some game with people? I know it wasn’t done as a joke, but is this a video for a 15 year old watching MTV or is this for the so called hustlers keeping it real. If this is hustlenomics, which he got from pro wrestling thuganomics, then it’s a sad sad day in the industry.
If you’re a Chamillionaire fan I know you’re already going to be buying Ultimate Victory on September 18th but now you’ve got a chance to get in even bigger. How about a gold or platinum plaque from Chamillonaire autographed when he makes gold or platinum status on his album. Well it’s going to happen and he wants to give the news to all of his fans that are thinking of picking up the album and supporting their favorite rapper. Check out the text from a contest that was just announced by Cham for the fans and find out how you might get your own plaque. I’ve also got the official tracklisting for Ultimate Victory included too.
Platinum, Grammy Award Winning Rapper, Chamillionaire, officially announced today he will be giving away 600 Commemorative Plaques (worth $300 each) for fans that support and purchase his highly anticipated sophomore album, “Ultimate Victory” when it is released September 18th through Chamillitary /Universal Motown (subject to official rules).
Yeah Im back with more opinion in your face. This time it’s time to talk about what Im calling the ringtone rapper. Whats a ringtone rapper you might say? Well it’s a rapper that sells more ringtones than CD’s. Currently the number 1 ringtone rapper is your boy Soulja Boy with the Crank That ringtone topping billboards top Hot Ringmasters and on the chart for 6 weeks now.
So where did ringtone rappers come from? Well once upon a time ringtone rappers would have been what you call one hit wonders. That would be someone who sells a ton of singles, maybe gets a video on MTV and a lot of airplay on radio, only to fall off the face of the earth with their subsequent work. The ringtone rapper is much in the same except they really never sell a ton of CD’s they just sell alot of ringtones. Massive amounts of ringtones that you’re stuck hearing in places where you would never have to hear such shitty music otherwise. Places like the office, work, grocery store, or even worse maybe at a local restaurant by that asshole who can’t put their phone on vibrate while you’re trying to have a nice evening meal.
I asked the question today on SOHH Dirty and I’ll ask it here. Is your favorite ringtone by your favorite rapper, or is your favorite ringtone by a ringtone rapper? I can’t hate on anyone, these guys are just doing their thing, guys like Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris and Plies are topping some of the hot ringtone charts at the moment. It remains to be seen if ringtone rapper success can lead to commercial CD selling success or if it’s just the modern day one hit wonder but much worse!
It’s a brand new show and it’s on MTV tomorrow night. Im talking about Celebrity Rap Superstar and while it’s not exclusively a down south thing, you will see a southern artist Paul Wall appearing on the show. But it’s not about his rap or game, it’s all about celebrities competing to become the new rap superstar, or at least the winner of the tv show. Paul Wall is a mentor along with Tone Loc, Redman, Warren G, Too Short, Bubba Sparxxx, Bizarre and MC Lyte. There are several contests who lack rap skills and are going to give it their best shot at trying to rap each week and progress in the contest and get better.
They’ll be judged by a panel of industry heavy hitters and you. Check out the website, Im going to watch the show and see if it’s not at least funny and entertaining. So check it out and comment back to let everyone know what you thought or think of it.
Now I know you guys will find that this isnt my style of music to post on here normally but Im going to take a chance. This pretty hot lady that works with Play N Skillz sent me this track earlier in the day and she said it was hot and sensual. Well you know that peeked my interests a bit because Im always paying attention to what the ladies like, or at least I should be.
It’s a track done by Pitbull featuring Lloyd and it’s on here because Play N Skillz produced it, and you know they do hot production. They’ve put in work with Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Kia Shine and plenty more hit makers. So maybe you can grab this, throw it in your playboy stash and save it for when you get a little alone time with that lady friend this weekend and see how it goes over. It just might work and get you a little closer to getting in touch, if you know what I mean.
Yo that new Rob G is out today so all hope is not lost on a new music Tuesday. Maybe you thought for a minute that Yung Joc was all that you had a chance to grab out of the south today but have no fear, Rob G is here. He’s got a brand new official mixtape that hit your local store shelves today and features plenty of southern hip hop heavyweights such as Lil Keke, Chamillionaire, Tum Tum, Big Pokey, Swisha House, ESG and plenty more. Stay tuned to TrillSouth for an official review later in the week or weekend. You can bet that this one is going to be a hot one, so go cop it and comment back to let the people know how you feel!
With a title taken from pro wrestling (thuganomics anyone?) Yung Joc’s solo album hits the stores today. Now where do I start with this one, I haven’t even heard it and I know I probably never will. I’d like to hear from you that buy the album or will buy it why you like it and what made you buy it. Does your chain hang low or did you hear it at the coffee shop after you went backpack and sweater vest shopping? Do you dance to his songs at the club, or do all your BFF’s love it and have it on their myspace?
What is it about another album of nonsene and no real thought out of Atlanta that has captured your attention. I see big sales for this one and I won’t be surprised even a bit to see Yung Joc at #1 on the Billboard 200 next week with maybe 350,000 in sales. So speak up and let the world know what you think!
So it finally hit me this weekend and I’ve written something small about it to go up on SOHH Dirty on Monday. I was hit by the Hurricane and by that I mean Hurricane Chris and his latest single The Hand Clap. While I was out I had to hear this song at least 3 times and it caught my attention the very first time I heard it. The lyrics were just horrible, the song content was worse than horrible and I dont know if that was possible. The beat wasnt good and the song was just garbage and I dont normally like to be so negative about something. But are people really buying and listening to this? Is this what its really come down to, songs like this from Hurricane, Soulja Boy, D4L or whoever the latest flavor of the month is. As you read earlier on this site courtesy of the HoustonPress, the Ozone awards were even slipping and not giving much respect to real hip hop in the south.
It’s as though it’s all one big fake show now of posters and shamless promotion of trash. Rap without real content, consequences and nothing but fantasy. Non stop parties and songs made by fake drug dealers and fake thugs who got all their tats and gangsta after they had a hit. I just had to rant a little bit and it hit me when I heard the lyrics to The Hand Clap include “row, row, row your boat gently down the stream.” Yeah that’s a direct lyric quote from the song, what the fuck is this shit coming to!
Yeah there’s a question mark on this one because Im wondering if my people in the south can feel what this dude is doing? I didnt like the first single and I’ve added the second one here called ‘W.O.W.’ and I want to know if you like this one. I listened to it a couple times and I like the beat but the song isnt about much of anything and it’s more like some Atlanta type of bullshit about nothing but himself. Too much shine and not enough grime in this one for me. I see his ads and shit all over the place on the net though so I know that people are promoting him hard. Check out the new track and comment back! Click the image to listen to the track!
Im sure you’ve had a chance to hear the Chingo Bling album that dropped on the 14th and if you haven’t I’ve got the official review for you. I’ve been listening to Chingo for a minute now and he’s done plenty of mixtapes a few funny videos and plenty of guest appearances. If you like Houston rap and enjoy a little bit of flavor and comedy to your shit at times then you’re going to be a fan of this album. Right off the bat he starts with the new anthem for They Can’t Deport Us All and bangs it into your head with the chorus.
But that’s only the begining, in the second track he shows you his Houston roots on a track that features Fat Pat and Paul Wall. The track is called Southside Thang, thats the southside of Houston he’s talking about in case you didnt already know. There are even some tracks that might are a little more hispanic I guess you would call it, but thats where alot of his fans are so its understandable.
I personally like tracks 2,3,5,7 and 8 as my favorites. All of these tracks hit pretty good and have that southside Houston style that I personally like and know alot of you do as well. So check out the album, theres an included bonus DVD if you got in early and still appearing in some of the Wal-Mart stores with alot of stock. So get it while you can and tell a friend to cop it too. Chingo is doing his thing and for his first major release he’s done well and even made it into the Billboard 200 this week, so lets move that spot up with some album buys!
