Chamillionaire Chooses DFW for ‘Main Event’ Video

We already know that DFW is going to be blowing up this weekend as the NBA All Star party comes to town. It appears that all kinds of things are going including Chamillionaire shooting his latest ambitious video project. I’ll let you read the release and then tell me how you feel about it. Who else is shooting some video this weekend or making DFW the spot for their event?

This Thursday, the city of Dallas will begin welcoming the throngs of sports fans and celebrities rushing to partake of the many NBA All Star celebrations going on throughout the weekend. Amongst them will be Grammy-winning, Houston artist Chamillionaire, who has put together a Texas All Star line-up of his own; namely Paul Wall, Slim Thug and Dorrough, for a music video shoot to Chamillionaire’s brand new song, Main Event. The plan is to shoot each of the guys guerilla-style, as they walk red carpets and mix and mingle at the many A-list events they plan on attending; a style of shooting that award-winning video director, Dr. Teeth, is very comfortable with. The final video will also feature a grand finale performance scene featuring all of the artists to be shot at an undisclosed location.

“I thought I’d take this opportunity to remind the rest of the world that Texas is still doing it big when it comes to music.” Chamillionaire says of his ambitious endeavor. “Every artist on the song with me has independent hustle and strength in the streets. It’s an All Star song so what better place to shoot the video than All Star Weekend, right here in our own backyard.”

Diaz taking a shot from Maynard

Diaz taking a shot from Maynard

Hello all, this is my first article for TrillSouth. If you’re into MMA and boxing, then you’ll definitely want to keep up with me on my blog here.

The UFC made it’s way to Fairfax, Virginia tonight and was showcasing some up and coming MMA talent. For the preliminary cards we had, Nick Catone who defeated his opponent Jesse Forbes by spilt decision. Gerald Harris defeating John Salter by TKO in round three (love those knockouts!) Rafael dos Anjos took down Kyle Bradley by unanimous decision by the judges. Rory MacDonald gives Michael Guyamon the armbar and makes him tap at the end of the first round. Nik Lentz and Thiago Tavares duel it out with some pretty good punches, but the judges score it a draw, and the crowd boos, which at UFC events is no real surprise.  Jesse Lenox and Rick Story go for three rounds which ends in an unanimous for Story. And to wrap things up, Jay Silva and Chris Leben duke it out with Leben taking the unamious decision from all three judges.

As with all events, I try to pay attention to all bouts. Although the main card always is the more exciting showcase to me, personally. First, we had Brad Blackburn and Amir Sadollah, with Sadollah (being the favorite) taking the win 30-27 by all three judges. Next, Aaron Simpson and Tom Lawler go for three rounds, which ends in a spilt decision to Simpson. Finally, Efrain Escuerdo and Evan Dunham  take to the mat, ending in the third round with Dunham catching Escuerdo in a painful armbar, causing him to tap. I would’ve definitely tapped as well. Looks pretty painful!

Pimp C

Check it out people and long live the pimp! Good to see something positive being done by hip hop and in the name of a man who liked to put a message in the music.

PRESS RELEASE – November 24, 2009

There are many ways to keep a legacy alive, or to keep one’s name relevant in the entertainment industry after an unfortunate and untimely passing. As for Chad Butler aka ‘Pimp C’, his wife Chinara Butler is putting forth her efforts to do just that, Friday, December 4th, 2009.

UGQ, Inc., founded by Chinara Butler and her late husband, has united with CCM Foundation and S.E.A.C (Syphillis Elimation Advisory Committee), to bring you the Inaugural Chad ‘Pimp C’ Butler Hip Hop & Health/Wellness Fair in their hometown of Port Arthur, Texas, which will be held on Friday, December 4th, at 6pm-10pm at the Port Arthur Pavilion. This event will be held every year on December 4th, the unfortunate day we lost a musical Legend, who had many dreams in store for his community…so we start here.

The Chad Butler Hip Hop & Health/Wellness Fair was founded in remembrance of Pimp C to start raising awareness for our youth today, whom sometimes lack the resources or even the knowledge to realize the importance of regular physical exams, frequent HIV/STD testing, drug prevention and abuse. The Port Arthur Health Department will be in attendance to provide these services, along with free vaccinations, as they are dedicated in promoting a healthy community. There will be a small donation fee of $5 and can good drop at entry.

Port Arthur residents will also get to enjoy live entertainment from special celebrity guests (TBA) to keep this event celebratory and educational at the same time. We will also be holding a Hip Hop ‘MC’ Battle for contestants who take an HIV/STD test and winner will take home $1000!!

(The Texas Department of State Health Services’ data from 2005 revealed that Region 6, the region that includes Jefferson County, ranked number two out of the 11 Texas regions in confirmed cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis and #1 in AIDS cases. These numbers can be reduced dramatically by raising awareness and constantly educating the public about diseases that are easily preventable.)

We genuinely appreciate your support in advance and look forward to your participation in the Inaugural Chad ‘Pimp C’ Butler Hip Hop, Health & Wellness Fair.

Lil Boosie Gets First Billboard Top 10

Lil Boosie

Lil Boosie

It was just last week that Boosie dropped his latest release ‘Superbad’ into stores and it seems that people have responded to give him his first top 10 debut on the Billboard 200. Boosie came in at #7 this week scanning 49,000 units. Im sure thats going to be considered a success since he’s still in many ways a regional artist not very well known on the East or West coast but thats changing. It’s too bad he wont be out to capitalize on the top 10 debut as he’s soon going to be serving a 2 year jail sentence in Baton Rouge for his plea deal accepted this week.

Lil Boosie Accepts Plea & 2 Years In Jail [Video]

Author: DigiPimp | Filed under: News, Videos

It just went down in Baton Rouge and Lil Boosie copped a plea and ended up getting sentenced to 2 years jail time. This is a plea deal so appeal shit is not very likely and it usually means that the trial outlook was not good and he had some guilt. Either way just after releasing his ‘Superbad’ album this is not a good look or a good time to end up doing jail time. Stay tuned to TrillSouth for more news on this one.

E.S.G. Releasing ‘Everyday Street Gangsta’ Late September

E.S.G. Everyday Street Gangsta

E.S.G. Everyday Street Gangsta

I got some more news of another H Town heavyweight also getting ready to drop a release with E1 (formerly Koch) records real soon. This time it’s a southern hip hop OG E.S.G. and here’s the news.

E1 Music is thrilled to bring you the long awaited new studio album from Texas mainstay E.S.G. Everyday Street Gangsta will be released on September 29th, 2009. This collection of new tracks took over a year to assemble courtesy of the man that brought us the chopped and screwed sound out of Houston. E.S.G. changed the direction of southern hip hop once. Get ready, because he is about to do it again!

You cannot mention the dirty south rap movement without paying homage to E.S.G. He is considered one of the most eminent and important rappers out of Texas. To date E.S.G. has sold over 500,000 albums and thousands upon thousands more on the mixtape circuit.

Everyone knows that E.S.G.’s 1995’s “Swangin’ and Bangin’” remix took on a life of its own. E.S.G. was the pioneer of the chopped and screwed sound that attracted labels such as Perrion, Priority and Wreckshop. The hits kept coming too with “Crooked Streets” and “Smoke On.”

Everyday Street Gangsta features Slim Thug, Streets Gov, Bun B, Duane Harris, Chamillionaire, Big Moe, Young Beast, Killa B and Trae.

As E.S.G. explains it, “My new album is really geared towards anyone who’s trying to pigeon hole Southern artists as all being the same, haters or critics…it’s time you see every artist don’t have to go the easy road to be successful and show these cats who have major deals, we do the same thing as an independent company…pretty much giving them swag class, watch how they live, then rap about it. So I took my time grinding the last year to bring some of the best to ever do it south of the Mississippi.”

I found this new on BET last night and thought you Flip fans would want to hear about it.

Lil Flip To Release New Album In September
By Danielle Harling

Shortly after the release of Lil Flip’s “Certified,” the Texas rapper is returning with a solo album that will be released next month. Entitled “Respect Me,” Flip’s upcoming album will include 15 tracks and is produced by J Silva, who has worked with the likes of Keyshia Cole and Lil Wayne.

Lil Flip is set to return.
“The thing about this album is that it’s so reflective of me, my music, life and lifestyle,” Lil Flip said in a statement. “Trust me; everything I rap about is based on truth. So when I rhyme dirty style about the Bentleys, the clubs, the platinum, the girls, my life’s lessons or whatever, it’s not bragging, it’s just fact.”
The album, which will be distributed by E1 Entertainment, has been described as a combination of street anthems and top-of-the-line production.
“Respect Me” will be released online and in stores on September 29.
Since his debut album, “The Leprechaun,” Lil Flip has released several projects including “U Gotta Feel Me” and “I Need Mine.” Aside from his studio albums, Flip has also released numerous mixtapes and has even attempted to create his own reality show called, “The American Rapper.”

Bow Wow Signs To Cash Money?

Author: DigiPimp | Filed under: News

Lil Bow

Lil Bow

Well it became a bit of a trending topic on Twitter for the moment and Lil Bow even put up some audio onto his YouTube showing pics of his new “family.” But did he really sign a deal with Cash Money and if he did what does it matter or mean. Cash Money has become fake and trendy anyway so yeah it might be a fit. So what gang is Lil Bow going to fake claim and is he doing this because his sales have become so horrible he’s got to make a move. Will Lil Bow become a fake rap gangsta now or will he continue to sing love songs for the 15 year old girls who might buy his single? A lot of questions floating around and I dont care I just got bored for a moment and thought I’d stimulate a little discussion around here.
