This morning checking out the net I came across this little tweet to twitter which Im sure many of you are familiar with. The text is pretty clear, but what isnt clear totally is exactly what happened or who did it. Was it random? Were there guns involved? Was he targetted by someone specifically?

Lets hope this isnt just the latest in his stream of publicity stunts to get more attention for trying to increase his album sales. I may not like the little homies music but I dont wish him any harm. This was posted all over the net from his account at almost 8 am eastern time and he’s got a lot of followers that read it. Hopefully its not a publicity stunt starting and or worse he’s not injured. You speak about how you feel about it. Ill follow up if more news drops.

SouljaBoy, Selling Records or Selling Hype?

So thats the question is SouljaBoy about to fall off or has he already fallen off. He gets massive views of his YouTube videos and his shows seem to be packed, but really does he do that many shows? Do YouTube views translate into sales? Well it looks like the answer to that is no. This past week SouljaBoy’s sophmore album came in at #43 with only 46,000 units moved. Thats a big drop off from what was expected and all the hype that was being sold.

Anyone remember SouljaBoy’s platinum in a week video campaign? Now that was some funny shit right there, the boy sold so much hype that he bought into it himself. How can you be everywhere and not move units even during the holiday season when everyone is buying? How can you publicity stunt and a bird ass video on AP news about being a better role model and still not move units. Ill tell you how. You sold hype not good music and you sold it to the least loyal crowd of all. You sold bullshit not hip hop and now they’re not buying you because you’re old. Go get your 15 cents on YouTube snap music dancing ho.

SouljaBoy’s Not Selling?

So the question of the week and something I posed the possibiltiy of earlier was what will happen when SouljaBoy’s sales stop? Well it looks like this might be the week. In a huge selling week for the industry or what should be around the holiday season. SouljaBoy dropped his new album and pushed it on YouTube hard with the so called ‘Platinum In a Week’ campaign of his. Followed by a bullshit AP video where he’s speaking about being a better role model and not doing the dumb shit he’s been doing in the past. Well that was just a marketing ploy to try and sell more albums and it looks like its all going to blow up in his face. So stay tuned for what could be an interesting time for SouljaBoy and his fast rise and maybe even faster fall. The word right now is he may only sell in the 30 to 40,000 album range this opening week. Not horrible, but nowhere near what was expected.
