Chamillionaire Makes Statement on Retirement Speculation

Author: DigiPimp | Filed under: News | 8 views

ChamillionaireSo I got this in my email earlier today while I was out and I’ll post it for you even though you might have already read it. It was sent out to a lot of people in the music biz so other sites have been posting as well. I’ll post it and then I’ll tell you what I think it really means.

Several days ago, I did a live broadcast from my site, Chamillionaire.com, to let fans know where I am right now and what my intentions are musically for the future. Instead of clearing things up, the broadcast unintentionally spawned rumors of my retirement from music. Since then, I have been bombarded with emails and phone calls regarding my so-called retirement and the reasons behind me not dropping the promised “Venom” album.

It was definitely not my intention to mislead anyone into thinking that I plan to completely retire from music. I love making music and will continue to do so. What I am retiring is the “Mixtape Messiah” part of my career. This means no more jacking beats and no more underground mixtapes. I have been making and putting them out for over a decade and I feel like it is time to step to another level. The upcoming installment of the “Mixtape Messiah” series, “Mixtape Messiah 7″, will be the final one. Moving forward, a large majority of the music I release will be on original beats.

Additionally, even though I don’t plan on releasing any of the original material that I had wanted to call “Venom”, I will definitely be releasing a third Chamillionaire album with Universal. I am confident that my true fans will have plenty of fresh, new music to be as excited about as I am and I look forward to supplying their demand for new music.

I hope that my fans will understand that over time, you grow as a person and this means you will evolve as an artist. The experiences that you encounter throughout your life all contribute to those changes and that is bound to affect the music an artist feels like making at any given time. I love that my fans feel so deeply about the work I have done in the mixtape scene or the “Get Ya Mind Correct” era of my career, but at this time I want to focus 100% of my studio time on perfecting the commercial music I will release in the future.

Thanks for understanding.

Chamillionaire

Lets break it down Chamillionaire made statements on his webcam broadcast that werent really thought out and they were right at the moment as he felt it. Those are the truest statements he’s made more than likely and this statement via email is just trying to clean that mess up and explain it a little bit better. Cham says the mixtape part of his career has passed and he wants to focus on perfecting the commericial music that he releases. Im not really buying that one but I know that Cham has been in conflict with labels for more than a minute and he’s full of creativity and has been all about the mixtapes for as long as he’s been doing this. But you know at the same time the labels dont like the mixtapes and they dont like you putting out product that they arent getting money from and they feel like a lot of the original content he puts out on them could have been used for commercials releases for them to profit off of. Lets face it this is the music business, the labels care about money and nothing else. They dont try to put out the best and most affordable product and they arent trying to now.

So Cham is quitting supporting the mixtape game. This sounds similar to back when Wayne flipped on the mixtape game that he was eating off of. Back when he turned against the same thing that was getting his name out there because the labels wanted to make more money off of him. It worked and it usually will work because if they control your outlet on your product and you do nothing but put out the product they put together for you once a year or once every few years then it will likely sell better, but that doesnt mean its better for the consumers. Everyone that loves this hip hop game and raps puts out a lot more material than would ever make an album. I mean how many Tupac album have their been since the homie passed? Thats all shit that he did while he was alive but never made it to album because he didnt like it, like the quality of it, or it wasnt finished. Rappers dont just make one track and live off of it, they make 50 and see which ones stick and fit and become a potential hit. It’s about throwing it all out there so that something can catch. Well Chamillionaire has been doing that with the Mixtape Messiah series for years now and the labels dont like it.

So it appears they’ve finally pushed him into a corner where he needs to do what they want, and he’s not a do what someone else wants type of guy from all indications. He’s got to fulfill his contractual obligations to them and so he’s in a position where this email statement is him saying what he needs to say to get through this situation. Make no mistake about it labels can get you fame and a little bit of money, but they arent the ones that make you rich or get you a hit, you’re the one that has to do that. Believe me I could expand on this and continue on for several more paragraphs but I’ll just give you that little bit of insight for now.
