That’s right you heard it on a new Gangsta Grillz track Willie the Kid is taking aim at none other than Lil Wayne. I know you want to hear it so I’ve got the track for you and you can hear the words straight from his mouth and decide if this will even turn into anything more than a memory. Wayne definitely likes to throw out lyrics fast so I can’t imagine it will be too long until he has a track that comes back at Willie. I’ll tell you Im not a fan of either of them and theres plenty of material there if you wanted to get at either of them. Will fake gangster and fake drug dealer rappers please stand up and then leave the business, you’re killing the game with your garbage. Anyway before I get off on a rant, check out the track.
Man I know it’s not the south but I cant help but talk about this shit because it’s going to happen this weekend. They’re having the Flavor Flav Roast on Comedy Central and you know that shit is going to be crazy funny and stupid. They’ve got guests like Ice T, Snoop Dogg, Katt Williams, Jimmey Kimmel and some other comedians and I wouldnt be surprised if some of the ladies from the Flavor of Love shows were around somewhere.
Anyway you can peep a few clips of this and check it out on Sunday night on Comedy Central at 10pm central time. I know I’ll be recording it so that I can watch it a couple times and watch people go hard on your boy Flav. And you already know they’re about to start working on a 3rd season of Flavor of Love where we the people get to pick the ladies that he’ll date. So peep the clip on the site and then watch the show this weekend.
I got this in my email a few days ago and I thought I’d share it with you to let you tell me what you think. It doesnt really clarify what artists are on it, so that will be up to you to figure out. I do know Yung Texxus is up in there somewhere because of the State City Music label on the cover art. So with that said I can’t promise you that the whole thing is dirty south through and through but some of it is and anyway its free so check it out and hit the comments to let me know what you think of it.
You’ve heard that Hurricane Chris ‘A Bay Bay’ shit all over the radio and video stations already and on here. But have you heard that boy Chingo Bling with the south Texas version ‘Ay Wey Wey?’ I didnt think so, so here I am to give you the real down south shit and let you know that Chingo is dropping a major release on August 14th in your stores called ‘They Can’t Deport Us All’ and I think you better go and grab that shit to support the man.
I’ll be working on getting with him and trying to arrange and interview or drop to let you all know what he’s up to and has to say to his fans. Im sure the album will be worth your money as all of his music is creative and entertaining to say the least. So check out ‘Ay Wey Wey’ and add buying that album next Tuesday to your plans!
So yesterday was a Texas holiday called UGK day. Alright so it’s not an official holiday and the postman still delivered mail and the banks were open, but to those of us that are into that real southern hip hop, or should I say that trill southern hip hop, yesterday was a holiday. It’s been about 5 years since their last album hit the streets and with time in between alot of things have changed, but these two are still on top of the country rap tunes game.
This time we’re lucky enough after all the wait to get a double album with 29 tracks and if you got into the stores fast enough you got to grab a copy that included a bonus DVD with a few of the new videos on it. If you acted real fast its currently on sale most places less than $13 with the DVD. I got mine for $12.99 and I’ve been wearing the discs out in the car for over 24 hours now and I’ll let you know this is as good as its ever been, or pretty close.
I’ll always be a fan of a few classic UGK tracks and I’m just not sure for me anything will ever compare to Diamonds and Wood, One Day, Murder, Pinky Ring or some of those tracks from Ridin Dirty. Maybe its just because I remember the time when I was hearing them while I listen, and not just the song, or maybe its because UGK was still raw and still hungry. Since then a lot has changed, Southern rap has really exploded and the spotlight is on it. Others have come up and come and gone. Bun B has done a verse for nearly anyone that was hot in the last couple years and his mixtape appearances were numerous. Read the rest of this entry »
Now I dont know if you’ve been keeping up with Lil Scrappy and his G’s Up TV series on youtube. I’ll admit I haven’t been, I think I watched some of the first one and then wasn’t interested anymore. So here I’ll present you with the latest episode since they started things back up and let you be the judge if you’re feeling this or not. I can’t say either way because I didnt even watch it honestly.
The man who was the inspiration for the ratchet city Hurricane Chris hit A Bay Bay has been arrested according to the Shreveport Times newspaper. The story which appeared in this mornings editions cites the man whos real name is Terrance Stewart as being charged with one count each of simple rape and intimidation of a witness. Those are pretty serious charges and I guess we’ll see how this one plays out real soon as this is nearly breaking news.
A rape charge often times regardless of the following court case can be a mark that can scar someone forever. This is a very serious charge and as such I won’t get into speculation out of respect for the lives of people. Read further and you can view the entire text of the Shreveport Time article and stay tuned for more news in the future. Read the rest of this entry »
Thats right today all across Texas people will be hitting the local music stores hard looking for that brand new UGK double album and if you get in fast enough you can get the bonus DVD in your pack as well. I just got back from picking up the new album. I’ll admit Im more of a mixtape fan but being a fan of Bun B and Pimp C Im going to support with buying the album even though I’ve already been listening to a downloaded copy.
So for today Im calling it UGK day and all across Texas Im sure you’ll hear the slabs banging out the new hits. You can stay tuned here as well for a full review of both discs and the bonus DVD. But until then quit reading and get to the store and grab your copy. Then get back on here and post up some comments to let us know how you feel!
It’s about time that I do another Indie Spotlight on here. I always want to keep close to the streets and the people who are trying to make it in the game. So this time I’ll let you in with another peek on a few underground artists that are out grinding and trying to get in the game.
Lets start with a guy that I’ve met a few times, Im talking about Chris McCain. I thought I’d give him another little shout on here so that you could check out his page. He’s been doing it for a minute and is starting to catch more buzz, he’s from the OKC, that’s Oklahoma City for those of you that don’t already know. Check out his myspace page and listen to J’s On My Feet and be on the lookout for a possible video soon.
Then next up is my man from the H, that’s Short Texas. You might have checked out some of the free mixtape tracks that he gave me to share with you recently. If you did you got a few hot tracks for free that are going to be hitting the streets on his upcoming mixtape. Short is definitely got that Houston sound and swagger and I know you’re going to like his music.
I’ll leave it at 2 for this week but I’ve got more coming and I’ll always continue this series for the people that are out there grinding hard and making a name for themselves. That’s where real hip hop lives in the south, with the people in the streets and at the clubs handing out discs or selling them for $5 trying to make it to the next day.
As always Indie artists you can email me and add me to your myspace friend list so I can check your stuff out, and you’re welcome to contact me about some really cheap advertising that I’ve got at the moment that you can link directly to your webpage or myspace page to step your game up to the next level.
Maybe you’ve already heard a little hype surrounding the upcoming release from your man David Banner. His album is scheduled for an early October release date and he’s getting out and grinding hard to make sure it gets the attention he feels it deserves. So I’ve got a little new audio track from the man who you can currently catch on the Rock the Bells tour which is making power moves across the country right now with plenty of heavyweight talent on the card in addition to Banner. So check out the new track called ‘Speaker’ with featured appearances by some other music heavyweights Akon, Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg!
