You know death is always an interesting time and usually depressing. A time to think back and remember, a time to think ahead and wonder what will be. It’s a time to put yourself into perspective as well. Pimp C was a true legend in the southern rap game, in the same way DJ Screw was. They both died far too young, they both changed the game and left a mark on it that will be remembered for quite some time to come.

What I’d like to do is share the memories and celebrate the life, for him, for his family and his friend. For the fans and those of us that meant him, if even only for a minute. There’s alot of death in this world and not enough celebration. Im going to post up quotes in here from artists and update this as is needed. He performed at a small club in Tyler not so long after being released and had a moment in the show where he just wanted to speak on life and some serious things he thought about and wanted to share. It’s sad but true and we dont know the reasons why yet. But Pimp C has indeed passed away. I dont know what to say other than I found Pimp to be one of the realest of all the artists I’ve ever listened to and the one time I did meet him even if briefly he was real. I met up with my man Hezeleo in Tyler, TX not too long after Pimp had been released for a small show at a local hip hop club and I’ll always remember it.

What I noticed is that while the music was real, he was real behind it too. He stopped the show to speak seriously on some things about life and things that were on his heart. As we’ve seen recently Pimp had no problem speaking and always had something to say. RIP Chad, UGK and Texas hip hop won’t be the same.

Don’t look for rumors on this site because I dont really do them. So I wont speculate on what happened to Pimp and how he died. There should be an official statement later in the day, as I was told this morning. I dont expect it to cite reasons or specifics. So if you were a fan then do him and his family a favor and just give them your best and don’t spread the bullshit gossip that seems to circulate so freely around these hip hop websites. I dont know what to say about this one or if it’s true yet. But the website TMZ.com is reporting that Pimp C was found dead in a Hollywood hotel room this morning. Here’s the text straight from their website.

Pimp C, real name Chad Butler — and one half of the rap duo UGK, was found dead in a hotel room this morning. He was 33.

L.A. County Fire responded to a 911 call at the Mondrian Hotel, located on trendy Sunset Strip in Hollywood. They arrived to his sixth floor hotel room to find him dead in bed.

UGK is best known for appearing on the Jay-Z track “Big Pimpin’” in 2000, and more recently with Outkast on the song “International Player’s Anthem (I Choose You).”

I want to know whats up with this one because Pimp wasn’t known to use drugs. Was it a health thing or something more? I hate to speculate on rumors so we’ll just have to wait and see what is going on with this for real. Im making calls while we wait, and trying to find out news from someone close to him.

Update: I confirmed it now through making some phone calls and Pimp is really dead. Im not going to speculate on it any further, but it is true and hopefully we’ll have an official statement by the end of the day.

Oh yeah we’ve got new Scarface in stores and on iTunes today. If you want to get it right now you can cop it on iTunes like I did last night at about 2 in the morning. I’ve already listened through a couple times and like a lot of what I heard. It’s a shame that we’re looking at only 10 tracks, 12 if you count and intro and outro. Scarface is bringing a little of that new and some of that old with a few guest appearances. He’s always got that little bit of R&B feel to his stuff as well, and its all real. While it’s not going to be his best release ever, it’s a decent one and if you’re a Scarface fan its been a minute since you could buy a new album from him anyway. It’s been a minute since I put up a good mixtape, so thats about to change. Today I’ve got the Awready V.11 mixtape from my boys at HustleFam. Damn it’s been a long weekend in D town but Im back at my desk now and ready to start sharing some of the videos and news of the weekend. First up I’ve got a little video of The Big Red Rooster and they’re single ‘How You Like That’ performed live at Cirque in downtown Dallas. It was a good night and the crowd was definitely feeling the guys. If you haven’t been paying attention to the news about them lately on here then you might want to start. The band has energy and with all the mixed styles, they have a unique sound that has big mainstream music possibilities. So you’ve probably heard the track in the club, and I know you’ve heard it on here already. But do you know the Trap Starz and that they’re from Dallas? This time its a live event where you can see them perform, meet them and also view the new video as its released officially to the public. So it was a late night people so Im a little behind on throwing up news and what not. But I do have a little clip from last night hanging out with some of the Hypnotized Minds camp. It was a late night in downtown Dallas, but we managed to do it a little bit big and I caught up with Project Pat and Lil Wyte after the show and caught a little clip. Theres plenty more video to come when I get back from the hotel and post it up next week. I’ve also got some of the live performance of Mr Lucci, Mr Pookie, Stoney Crook, Big Red Rooster and of course Project Pat, Lil Wyte and Frayser Boy. Yeah it’s more Birdman and I know maybe you’re tired of it. But on the flipside these Cash Money boys have been holding it down for a minute now. I’ll admit there have been a few tracks that I like and they always keep a hot beat for the club. Maybe I don’t buy their shit but I definitely don’t mind it, especially when the ladies move to it real well.

So Birdman is working on dropping that ‘5 Star Stunna’ album into stores in just a little under 2 weeks. On December 11th to be exact. So in combination with that he’s got these web videos that are going up on YouTube in the past day to tell you what being a ‘5 Star Stunna’ is about and how you can do it too. Some of them are a little over the top, mainly the first and second one, but the rest when he gets into the cars and the hustle arent all that bad.
