A Bay Bay Hurricane Chris DJ Arrested

dj bay bay terrence stewartThe man who was the inspiration for the ratchet city Hurricane Chris hit A Bay Bay has been arrested according to the Shreveport Times newspaper. The story which appeared in this mornings editions cites the man whos real name is Terrance Stewart as being charged with one count each of simple rape and intimidation of a witness. Those are pretty serious charges and I guess we’ll see how this one plays out real soon as this is nearly breaking news.

A rape charge often times regardless of the following court case can be a mark that can scar someone forever. This is a very serious charge and as such I won’t get into speculation out of respect for the lives of people. Read further and you can view the entire text of the Shreveport Time article and stay tuned for more news in the future. …continue reading A Bay Bay Hurricane Chris DJ Arrested

Indie Spotlight

indie music artists spotlightIt’s about time that I do another Indie Spotlight on here. I always want to keep close to the streets and the people who are trying to make it in the game. So this time I’ll let you in with another peek on a few underground artists that are out grinding and trying to get in the game.

Lets start with a guy that I’ve met a few times, Im talking about Chris McCain. I thought I’d give him another little shout on here so that you could check out his page. He’s been doing it for a minute and is starting to catch more buzz, he’s from the OKC, that’s Oklahoma City for those of you that don’t already know. Check out his myspace page and listen to J’s On My Feet and be on the lookout for a possible video soon.

Then next up is my man from the H, that’s Short Texas. You might have checked out some of the free mixtape tracks that he gave me to share with you recently. If you did you got a few hot tracks for free that are going to be hitting the streets on his upcoming mixtape. Short is definitely got that Houston sound and swagger and I know you’re going to like his music.

I’ll leave it at 2 for this week but I’ve got more coming and I’ll always continue this series for the people that are out there grinding hard and making a name for themselves. That’s where real hip hop lives in the south, with the people in the streets and at the clubs handing out discs or selling them for $5 trying to make it to the next day.

As always Indie artists you can email me and add me to your myspace friend list so I can check your stuff out, and you’re welcome to contact me about some really cheap advertising that I’ve got at the moment that you can link directly to your webpage or myspace page to step your game up to the next level.

ATL vs TX or Trill vs Fake?

wack fake rapperWhen Pimp C spoke up in his interviews last week its as if he opened a whole can of worms. Is there a battle brewing in the south between the ATL and Texas, or is it just hype? I know personally Im not a fan of most of the music or the style that comes out of the ATL and believe me Im a fan of plenty more than just Texas rap. I like alot of what goes on in the east coast and actually grew up listening to west coast rap from the Bay to LA and loved it all. But something about this ATL rap and the style of music, I just can’t feel it or get into it.

I think Pimp directed alot of his attention at the ATL for a reason and even with an apology, he didnt apologize for the bulk of what he said and he stands by it today the same as the day he said it. Of course the ATL is part of the south and we all knew that regardless of what he originally said but he spoke on bigger things that got missed by a shitty interview that was all gossip and hype.

Pimp spoke on the game that is the music industry. Rappers trying to be someone their not, fakes claiming things they’ve never done, rap without any substance. It’s great to have a party song, or a song to get the club moving, but if 100% of what you’ve done has no substance, that speaks for itself. If you’re throwing out the talk then you better be able to back it up and walk it, not just talk it. So is a rap beef, battle or whatever you want to call it brewing between the ATL and Texas, could it make things elevate and get better or could it be a bad thing? Dont you at least like my pic of a wack wannabe rapper?

Play N Skillz 1st Annual All Star Event Pics

So you might remember when I told you about the 1st Annual Play N Skillz All Star bash that went down last weekend in Dallas. There were a lot of names on the roster and alot more people in attendance than I even realized there would be. I was looking to go myself but thanks to some unfortunate events (bent my new wheels on crappy Dallas streets) I was unable to go.

But last night my girl Gina hooked me up with some of the pics from the event and you’ll see from these photos it must have been pretty fun. But don’t worry as it says its an annual event and they’ll be back to do it again, bigger and better next year and you can be there! So here are the pics you can see everyone was there, Tum Tum, Play N Skillz, Lil Flip, Slim Thug, etc. and a few up and coming artists!

Everything else he stands by and has apologized to the UGK fans, the ATL people and the all the hip hop fans as a whole. You can check out the audio for yourself and see what you think because he definitely doesnt back down from the truth that he was spreading and 90% of what he said on the other interviews.

So you know what place has got that shit, it’s TrillSouth and here’s the Greg Street V103 Interview with Pimp C apologizing from Monday night at the begining of this week!

Hot Dollar ‘Streets On Lock’ Remix feat Rick Ross & Gucci Mane

hot dollarI posted a little thing about Hot Dollar not long ago on another site and the response wasn’t that good, but I’ve got a little more and a remix track this time featuring two southern names. It’s a remix of ‘Streets On Lock’ featuring Rick Ross and Gucci Mane, those are two names that I know you already know. So have a listen to this and tell me if this is any better than anything you’ve heard from Hot Dollar before, or if you’ve never heard of him, what do you think?

My opinion is that the track is still a little weak, its not horrible music by any means but the lyrics and beat aren’t top notch even with Rick Ross. Now Im a fan of Rick Ross and if you’ve got him on a track and I still dont feel it, then I dont know what to tell you. Of course Im just one man and Im sure there are plenty of opinions good and bad. So check out the Streets On Lock Remix!

A Bay Bay (Ratchet Remix)

I dont know if you were a fan of the original version of the song and video ‘A Bay Bay’ or not? I have to say I wasn’t but it definitely didnt hurt my ears like some of that D4L and Soulja Boy shit. So now we’ve got the Ratchet Remix that’s just starting to hit the streets and Hurricane Chris definitely stepped it up with this one. We’ve got guest stars like The Game, Boosie, Baby, Jadakiss and Angie Locc representing the port city. So peep the new video and let everyone know what you think, who’s got the hottest verse?
