Rick Ross & Carol City Cartel ‘The Black Flag Prequel’

I see people talking about this lately and saying that they’re getting ready to drop this little mixtape on everyone in advance of the Black Flag album. Well in case you didnt know, and they obviously dont know, this mixtape has been out for a minute now. So instead of you going to all these other sites that just copy and paste shit from one site to the next, how about I hook you up with the real shit right here.

Here’s the mixtape, it’s Rick Ross, the Carol City Cartel which is his group. The mixtape is the Black Flag Prequel and it’s got all the grimy Florida shit that you’ve been enjoying for the past year. Florida is coming up real fast right now and hopefully they’ll go ahead and push the ATL off the map and we can get past this ringtone rap bullshit. Enjoy the mixtape!

Rick Ross ‘Get That Bread’

rick ross rise to powerI know this is a Rick Ross single that maybe you havent heard yet. It just dropped in the past couple days and has hardly found it’s way around the internet but TrillSouth already has it for you to listen to. I dont know if you know but on September 18th there’s a Rick Ross album that’s dropping into stores and it’s not Trilla. It’s called Rise To Power and is being released by Suave House. The album is material that was unreleased and owned before Ross made his move to Def Jam and a major label.

I havent heard anything but this single yet but Im sure it’s real Rick Ross material and if you’re already a fan then Im sure you’ll want to cop it, while you wait on Trilla to hit the streets. It’s only a little over a week away and a deal was worked out so that the release could come through without a fight from Def Jam, so it should be in alot of stores, especially if you’re in the south. So check out the single Get That Bread and comment back to let me know what you think!

Rick Ross ‘Trilla’ Interview

rick rossCheck this out I found your boy Rick Ross discussing alot of things although mostly his upcoming album Trilla. See what he’s got to say and what you can expect to drop into your local stores real soon. I know Im looking forward to this album after he blew up the spot late last year.

Who have you got on this new album?

Rick Ross: I’ve got Kanye [West] and Pharrell [Williams] who made amazing contributions to this album. It was real cool working with Pharrell, he’s a real fly dude. He was dedicated and made sure he gave me a super hot record. I’ve also got a record with Marsha from Floetry on the album, her voice is incredible. She’s a London girl too so ask her about the Rick Ross joint she just did!

You’ve named the album Trilla. Is that anything to do with Michael Jackson’s Thriller album?

Rick Ross: When I was young, I bought a Michael Jackson album on vinyl. I remember I bought the album and it folded open like a book and I played the record over and over again. The new, fresh sound got to me and that’s what I want to do with my music. My first album, Port Of Miami, went platinum and I want to make sure this album is just as fresh. The other reason for calling this album Trilla is because Trill is a word we use in Miami for something that’s real and official.

This is the Birthday Remix track with Flo-Ride, Rick Ross and Brisco up in it with plenty of cars and women. The lyrics are alright, the best is kind of hot, Rick Ross always drops a hard verse on people as it’s just his style. This is some of that hot Florida shit that I know you’re liking, Texas and Florida are definitely doing it big right now. So check out the video and comment back!

UGK ‘Underground Kingz’ Review

ugk underground kingzSo yesterday was a Texas holiday called UGK day. Alright so it’s not an official holiday and the postman still delivered mail and the banks were open, but to those of us that are into that real southern hip hop, or should I say that trill southern hip hop, yesterday was a holiday. It’s been about 5 years since their last album hit the streets and with time in between alot of things have changed, but these two are still on top of the country rap tunes game.

This time we’re lucky enough after all the wait to get a double album with 29 tracks and if you got into the stores fast enough you got to grab a copy that included a bonus DVD with a few of the new videos on it. If you acted real fast its currently on sale most places less than $13 with the DVD. I got mine for $12.99 and I’ve been wearing the discs out in the car for over 24 hours now and I’ll let you know this is as good as its ever been, or pretty close.

I’ll always be a fan of a few classic UGK tracks and I’m just not sure for me anything will ever compare to Diamonds and Wood, One Day, Murder, Pinky Ring or some of those tracks from Ridin Dirty. Maybe its just because I remember the time when I was hearing them while I listen, and not just the song, or maybe its because UGK was still raw and still hungry. Since then a lot has changed, Southern rap has really exploded and the spotlight is on it. Others have come up and come and gone. Bun B has done a verse for nearly anyone that was hot in the last couple years and his mixtape appearances were numerous. Read more

Hot Dollar ‘Streets On Lock’ Remix feat Rick Ross & Gucci Mane

hot dollarI posted a little thing about Hot Dollar not long ago on another site and the response wasn’t that good, but I’ve got a little more and a remix track this time featuring two southern names. It’s a remix of ‘Streets On Lock’ featuring Rick Ross and Gucci Mane, those are two names that I know you already know. So have a listen to this and tell me if this is any better than anything you’ve heard from Hot Dollar before, or if you’ve never heard of him, what do you think?

My opinion is that the track is still a little weak, its not horrible music by any means but the lyrics and beat aren’t top notch even with Rick Ross. Now Im a fan of Rick Ross and if you’ve got him on a track and I still dont feel it, then I dont know what to tell you. Of course Im just one man and Im sure there are plenty of opinions good and bad. So check out the Streets On Lock Remix!
